Fishing report July 2026

Dal Mallart after low rainfall

July was a month of two halves. The first half of the month saw 6” on the Rhifail gauge at the beginning, rising to 1’2” in the middle part of the month before starting to fall as the month progressed. The warm weather being experienced in England made its way north of the border and rumour has it that the ghillies were in their shorts…..The catch records for the month matched the water levels - plenty of fish caught in the first half.

Electric fishing has continued this month with healthy numbers of Parr found, all of a good size and larger on average than we normally find.

Despite the low river levels, spirits remain high as there are plenty of fish in the system and the club water is holding huge numbers, we just need some rain to entice them up the river.
